Lou Bantry

Waterfront Dining in Villefranche-sur-Mer

📍 Location

Nestled between Mont Boron and Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, the town of Villefranche-sur-Mer is one of the most picturesque harbors along the French Riviera. Just a short ride from Nice, it offers sandy beaches, a colorful waterfront, and a charm that makes it feel like a tucked-away gem.

There are several restaurants along the water, but Lou Bantry is the one I return to again and again. It’s the first place I take friends when they come to visit – a non-negotiable stop that perfectly introduces them to the spirit and flavor of the region.

🍽️ What I Loved

Lou Bantry is casual but excellent – reasonably priced, open all day, and always lively without being overwhelming.

My go-to order? Moules Frites (they have several varieties) and a pitcher of rosé. Whether it’s lunch in the sun or dinner with the harbor lights twinkling, I never leave disappointed. The staff is warm and welcoming, and the view is truly one of the best on the Riviera.

Don’t skip the plat du jour – it’s always seasonal, beautifully plated, and full of fresh, layered flavors.

🌍 Why It’s Special

There’s a unique energy at Lou Bantry – it feels effortless but thoughtful. You can drop in after a beach swim, linger with a glass of wine, or savor a long meal with friends. The setting, with the harbor in view and boats drifting by, makes every visit feel like a mini-vacation.

It’s not fancy, but it’s perfect.
